OUR CHOIRS
St. Stephen’s is blessed with beautiful music from the St. Stephen’s Choir, which enriches and leads our worship each Sunday from early September through early June. The Choir comprises enthusiastic volunteer singers who meet weekly to rehearse and prepare offerings for Sunday Eucharists, Evensongs, and other special events.
Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the choir room, and warm-ups are on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. The Choir welcomes new members—please contact Derrick, our Minister of Music, for more information.
On a few occasions during the year, we invite parishioners and community members who do not participate in the weekly Sunday choir to join us for Festival Choir opportunities. We recently welcomed guest singers for unique music offerings of a choral Mass setting with orchestra in early November, our Carols by Candlelight in mid-December, and an early June Evensong. If you want to be contacted about Festival Choir Opportunities, please contact Derrick.
At St. Stephen’s, we prioritize forming children and including them in worship—including singing and leading worship themselves. In prior years, we have had a Chorister Program for the children of the parish and the Ridgefield community. We are in the process of re-establishing a Chorister Program that fits the needs of our families and teaches our children vocal technique, leadership, and teamwork.
The Summer Choir meets on Summer Sundays in June and July at 9:00 a.m. before 10:00 a.m. worship and prepares a simple anthem. Contact Derrick or just come to the choir room!
