RESOURCES FOR HARD TIMES
At St. Stephens, we are a community—we belong to this church with a purpose. One of those purposes is loving and supporting one another in hard times.
When we encounter loss, we find ourselves on a non-circuitous, seemingly endless path. We are here to walk with you in your ever-evolving landscape. Through literature resources, one-on-one short term pastoral care, connecting you with grief support groups and counselors, and worship opportunities, we will assist you in finding your faith amid your grief. “When Love touches suffering, it becomes Mercy.” We know that Christ meets us in our heartbreak and pain. Please contact our Associate for Caring Ministries for more information on any of these resources for grief support.
Sometimes, hard times are of short duration. In our recovery and healing, we benefit from a little support. We lighten one another’s load through freezer meals, transportation to church events, and notes of encouragement and opportunities for prayer (e.g., before surgery). We have occasional study groups on topics that prepare us for what might come (e.g., resilience, end-of-life preparations, etc.). Our Prayer resources include prayers for hard times. To express a need and see how we might be able to help, contact our Associate for Caring Ministries.
Supporting mental health is a priority for us. We do this through creating a Safe Church environment which is welcoming to all people. Additionally, we offer regularly scheduled events such as Deep Sleep Meditation and Healing Morning Prayer. We offer resources for parents to support their children during grief, loss, trauma, and hard times: For Children & Youth. We have a great deal of wisdom in this inter-generational community and look to illuminate opportunities for support and mentorship.
St. Stephens is a host church for Alcoholics Anonymous. Check our calendar for when these groups meet, or to check for availability if you have a group needing space.
